Global Issues Forum
A major focus of World Affairs Councils nationwide is the presentation in their communities of quality programs offering the general public the opportunity to participate in discussions of current international issues.
The World Affairs Council of Kentucky and Southern Indiana achieves this goal through the Global Issues Forum and its companion series WAC Presents. The Global Issues Forum series was initiated in the fall of 2005 and is supported by a grant from Brown-Forman Corporation.
The series brings to Kentucky and Southern Indiana internationally-known experts on current global issues and is held bi-annually. The first event in the series involved the French Ambassador to the United States on December 12, 2005.
Recent events in the Global Issues Forum have featured:
- Ambassador of Iraq to the United Nations, Amb. Feisal Amin Istrabadi
- Eugene Robinson, Washington Post Columnist and MSNBC Commentator
- The Honorable Jacques-Edouard Alexis, Former Prime Minister of Haiti
