Louisville has been settling refugees from conflict zones for decades. Many are now permanent residents or citizens of the U.S., and contributes to the economic, cultural and religious richness of our city.
Stepping back from the political, practical and moral issues of the immigration ban, we hear from former refugees representing a “targeted” group through the decades since 1980s to the present. In their own voices, we ask, how unique is the current rhetoric and tensions about immigration compared to when they came? Today, it is about fear of Muslims, what about in past decades?
Join WAC and former refugees for a different look at the immigration ban. Panelists will include Firas Hamza, Djenita Pasic, and Van Tran. This discussion will be moderated by Antigona Mehani of the Kentucky Refugee Ministries. Space is limited – you must register to attend. Reserve your place today.
