About this Event:

North Korea is a black hole in the modern world of globalism and gleaming information exchange. Few people outside of the country know what life there is really like. North Korea’s war against information is a heavily fortified as its military. Nothing gets in, nothing gets out. Well, almost nothing that is.

In decades since the founding of the Kim regime, only a single journalist has managed to sneak into the country, live undercover, and return to write about it. Join us as Suki Kim tells of her harrowing experiences living undercover in the most oppressive and least understood government on Earth.

This is event is produced in partnership with the Center for Asian Democracy and the Louisville Free Public Library.

Suki Kim is a Korean-American journalist and New York Times bestselling author of Without You, There Is No Us. The book chronicles the six months Kim spent teaching English to the 19-year-old sons of North Korea’s ruling class at a university staffed only by foreigners. She is the only writer to have gone undercover in North Korea to investigate and write a book from the inside.

This event is FREE to the public, but registration is encouraged.
