Apply to Participate in the Chengdu International Music Festival!

As a result of Louisville's friendship with Chengdu, China, we have the chance to take one or more music groups to Chengdu at the end of August 2026 to participate in a week-long artistic festival. Details can be found below:

Group Requirements

• People aged 16-45 may participate in the festival.

• The city of Chengdu will accept music groups of six people and dance groups of eight people.

• If a group would like to send more than the allowed amount of participants by type, they would have to cover the expenses out of their own pocket.

Timeline

• Teams must submit their intent to participate by February 28th, 2026. You will need to submit your team name, number of performers, and type of performance.

• By March 31st, 2026, groups must provide team introduction and performance materials, including four high-definition performance photos and a performance video of at least one minute in length.

• You will receive confirmation regarding whether the team from Louisville has been selected to participate in the Chengdu festival by April 30th, 2026.

• The festival will take place from August 24th-September 1st, 2026.

Logistics and Costs

• Chengdu will cover accommodation, meals, local transportation, and scheduled visits for six members of a music team or eight members of a dance team during their stay from August 24th to September 1st

• All other expenses, including but not limited to the following, will be the responsibility of the participants or their sending institutions: 

  • International and domestic airfare to and from Chengdu:

  • Travel insurance (if needed);

  • Chinese visa application fees;

  • Personal expenses, such as souvenirs, snacks outside the arranged meals, and any activities not included in the itinerary;

  • Transport of costumes and props, including any excess baggage fees.
